I’m into sport climbing even though I was a bit of a late bloomer, starting only at the age of 44. Balancing it with family and work makes fast progress a challenge but I absolutely love this kind of physical activity.
I train at indoor climbing gyms a few times a week. I’ve also had the chance to climb outdoors on Spain’s Costa Blanca, in the Italian Dolomites (with two trips to Arco) and in southern Poland at Krucze Skały in Karpacz and the Rudawy Janowickie area. My wife is a capable belayer so whenever we go on family mountain trips, I always try to find a nearby climbing area to explore.
I also like biking and I love Nordic Walking activities.
Music
I am intersted in music since I remember. I learned music notation when I was in high school – to parctice classical guitar. I love the instrument but I am not too much gifted (or maybe I was not practicing hard enough).
I listen to a wide variety of music.
I love classical guitar. First of all I listen to performances of David Russel and John Williams. Before Spotify era I used to collect classical guitar CD records. For example I have about 30 different performances of the late Joaquin Rodrigo’s “Concerto de Aranjuez”.
I listen to a lot of jazz. While it is often guitar-driven (featuring artists like Pat Metheny, Oz Noy and Frank Gambale), I also explore other shades of the genre. I particularly enjoy music where the bass guitar takes center stage, which is why I frequently listen to musicians like Victor Wooten, Esperanza Spalding and Poland’s own Kinga Głyk. I am also a great fun of Edgar Meyer – great, American double-bass virtuoso.
Listening to Edgar Meyer I also got interested in bluegrass music and quite often I listen to Bela Fleck (banjo), Chris Thile (dobro), Bela Fleck and the Fleckstones and some other artists.
I love rock/progressive-rock. I come back again and again to many recordings of Pink Floyd, Yes, King Creamson, Rush or Dream Theater.
Finally I listen a lot to Peter Gabriel. I always liked his music. I am also a fan of late Jeff Back and his co-operations with other artists.
OK, from time to time I listen to harder generes of rock, like Pantera. I also like the Canadian band “Protest the Hero”.
